Nobelist Timeline Preparation Assignment

N.B.  Please consult the document below this item in the module for a fuller description of expectations for the timeline itself.

During the next class we will be working on creating a digital timeline for your author.  In order to be prepared to do this, you need to arrive to class prepared with information regarding the following:

  1. Biographical facts.
  2. Career facts.
    1. School?
    2. Texts?
    3. Job(s)?
  3. Awards/recognitions.
  4. Cultural context (i.e. relevant historical framework that influenced the author and/or the reception of the author’s work).

Additionally, you will need a bank of images, audio and/or video.  Be sure to keep track of where you are finding any of these.

This is a task that lends itself well to use of Google, Wikipedia and the like.  Having said that, you should also consider looking up your author on the Nobel site for prize winners in literature: http://www.nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/literature/laureates/.

Good places to look for digital material that you can use without violating copyright under fair use standards:

                        CC Search

                        Wikimedia Commons

N.B. Be sure to keep track of the URLs of any media you collect for potential use.  Use a bookmarking app/extension, write them down, copy and paste into a Word document, whatever.
